St George and the Dragon
blue bar
photo supplied by R. Shuttleworth The story of St George, the Patron Saint of England, has a connection with Coventry which will be explored in this section. The traditional image of St George is quite familiar to us all. The most famous representation is probably that of this gallant knight thrusting his lance down the gullet of a ferocious dragon, as the pious princess looks on. But did you know that St George may have been born in Coventry? Did you know he may have been the father of Guy of Warwick? If not, then explore these pages and discover more about the Coventry link.
