Whatever the season, Kenilworth Castle is a magnificent sight. Its red sandstone towers, the keep and walls glow bright in the morning and late evening sun.
By paying a visit to the Kenilworth Castle, you can learn about the great building's links with Henry V, who retired to Kenilworth after Agincourt. Other renowned visitors were King John, Edward II and John of Gaunt. There is a 17th century, English Civil War story that General Ireton had a Cavalier shot at the castle. Sir Walter Scott immortalised this great fortress in his poem "Kenilworth" in 1821.
The Castle has a Norman keep, a Great Hall and rooms through which Elizabeth I wandered. The Tudor gardens should not be missed. Take advantage of the audio tour which will guide you through a revealing journey around the Castle. Listen to stories of Kenilworth's turbulent past.
The grounds have excellent views of the surrounding area. After you have explored the Castle, do not forget to visit the fascinating streets of nearby Kenilworth town.
