Heritage Diary for Details of Specific Events

Warwick Castle is the finest medieval Castle in England. The castle offers visitors a thousand years of history.

The castle was originally built for protection and as an example of political and military might. The castle itself overlooks the river Avon as it winds its way through Warwickshire.

The castle and grounds are filled with contrasting images. The chilling dark Dungeon and the gruesome Torture Chamber, contrast with the elegant splendour of the Great Hall, State Rooms, and 'Royal Weekend Party 1898'. Visitors can experience the sights, sounds, touch and smell of the medieval household in 1471 in 'Kingmaker - a preparation for battle'. Or hear the chilling tale of Sir Fulke Greville's murder in the recently refurbished Ghost Tower, where you will be left with the distinct impression that Sir Fulke Greville's presence remains in the place that was once his home.

Throughout the year there is an exciting series of special events which bring this medieval world even more to life from the clash of the knights to the sound of the minstrels. All in all a great family day out.
