"A dreadful experience"

A review of Eburne Primary School by Keith Cerguson WEST written on Wednesday 28th of September 2022

I attended Eburne School in 1955, the young head teacher was very professional but two older ‘teachers’ - one was called Miss Burke - were dreadful. Miss Burke in particular detested those of us from the new Wood End estate, presuming we were riff raff and made no bones about her prejudice and was selectively free with her cane - the leg of a chair. My parents managed to find a new school so I only suffered two terms but the experience was long lasting. Fortunately I went on to university snd a successful career in the arts but to this day regret the wasted time at Eburne and hope later generations had better experiences than me..
