"Same Day Appointment"

I hardly ever visit the surgery so when I called last Friday at 9 am to try to book an appointment I thought the wait would be several days. I was clearly impressed when I was offered a same day appointment at 10.50. I really thought I was going to have to wait days. I was seen exactly on time and had to tell the doctor and reception how impressed I was after hearing all the horror stories on radio phone-ins of how seeing your GP is such a nightmare.

Like a fool I forgot to ask about how up-to-date I was with my travel jabs so yesterday I called into the surgery in person to ask about this. I needed to talk to a nurse but none were free. I was told that a nurse would call me back later that morning.

Again to my amazement I had hardly been in the car for 5 minutes before I was called back. The nurse explained that usually the process to get travel injections is six weeks but as I was travelling in a fortnight she squeezed me into see her at the Clay Lane clinic the following Monday. Again I was very impressed with not just getting the appointment but with how professionally I was dealt with.

Having two experiences like this with the surgery within four days says this surgery has its act together and is really trying to provide an excellent service. Thanks to all I've seen and spoken to..
