A review of Eburne Primary School by William David Spear written on Saturday 22nd of June 2024
I went to Eburne Primary about 1957 - 1963. Mrs. Spire was very strict and scared me. I am sure Mr. Porter didn't like me. Mr. Redding was great and kept the boilers going so that the classrooms were warm in the winter. Mrs. Bowness left the year before I got to her class; Miss Forbes replaced her. Miss Forbes taught us French, and I remember her tight sweaters, wasted on a 10-year-old. Mr. Bowness was a lovely man, everybody liked him, and he genuinely cared. There were two pear trees where we played cricket, and we were told of the dozens of bombs that were dropped on the school in the war.
I can't remember the Head Mistresses name, but I remember that she was quite attractive and drove a Ford Anglia, her name might have been Beaton. After Eburne I went to Foxford in the autumn of 1963 and migrated to Australia in October 1965.
Some names that I remember. Ken Salisbury, Paul Dunkley, Jaqueline Lole, Janice Green, Malcolm Morgan, Jimmy Kennedy, Peter Dodd, Michael Beazley, Christine Gardener, David James, Jimmy Edwards, Linda Picker, David Picker, Sarah Pinder..
