A review of Cheylesmore Social Club by Gerry Cronin (Tipperary Town) written on Monday 9th of November 2015
While I was working in Coventry I lived near the Club. When I first stepped inside the doors of the club 25yrs ago I was welcomed by Harry Macklew ( may be spelt wrong)
and he proposed me for membership I was seconded by the then secretary and made very welcome, being over from Ireland I was very apprehensive.
The members of the club were very good to me and made me feel at home.
I made friends with with many members some whose names names I still remember
Barry and Sue,Harry and Jean, Tina O' Reilly while I have forgotten other names I have not forgotten their welcome and made my stay in Coventry memorable .
I enjoyed playing bingo sitting at the table with Harry, Jean and friends and
also watching the shows etc and having a few drinks in the bar.
I wish to send best wishes to all who remember me after all these years.
Regards,
Gerry Cronin..
